Position Overview and Responsibilities:

  • On-site day-to-day operations of construction projects in the western United States.
  • Promote safety awareness and compliance with project safety requirements.
  • Supervise entire construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate and supervise lower-tier subcontractor activities.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills. Will be required to act as a DelHur
    representative on projects and interface with the Client, Engineer, and other entities.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required. Experience
    working with Primavera, AutoCad, etc. is an added plus.
  • Knowledge of Trimble GPS software/hardware, its use, and capabilities for equipment control is desired.
  • Hands on experience and working knowledge of heavy machinery and its production capabilities a plus.

Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

Responsible for a variety of activities associated with servicing, repairing, and maintaining pieces of heavy equipment in a shop setting, as well as, in the field requiring travel. The traveling will be within, but not limited to a 1,000-miles of Andrews, TX. The work is performed through the application of certifications, education, experience and skill which denote expertise in heavy equipment maintenance.  The position requires exceptional organizational skills in both the mechanical and the documentation aspects of the business. Mechanics will be required to work in a safe environment and keep area clear of hazards.

Our heavy equipment mechanics perform fueling, lubing, servicing, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment including but not limited to dozers, excavators, loaders, compactors, graders, scrapers, forklifts, rock crushers, off road haul trucks, articulated haul trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks, service trucks, boom trucks, belly dump trailers, side dump trailers, pups, semi-tractors, and low boy trailers. Must possess an extensive knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, Case, Hitachi, JCI, El Jay, Hamm, Ingersoll-Rand, Payhauler, Gallion, Wirtgen, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Mack, International, Kenworth, Aspen, Trail King, and Great Dane manufacturer’s.  Must keep, complete, track and manage service records, purchase orders, invoices, logs, inventory, timesheets, manufactures specifications and manuals.

Job Qualifications

Eight years’ experience as a heavy diesel equipment mechanic.

Experience working on CAT and Komatsu equipment.

Clean driving record.

Vocational or Technical School certification.

AC and Rigging education a plus.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Current CDL and current medical card.

Must have own hand tool’s up to ¾” drive.

Ability to communicate explanations of repairs and equipment failures time cards effectively.

Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in repair and maintenance of motor vehicles, engines and drive trains.

Knowledge of body and frame construction.

Skilled in the use of a variety of hand tools.

Skilled in the use of gas and electric welding equipment (certified welder is a plus).

Skilled in the use of mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists.

Skilled in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.

Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer.

Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic malfunctions.

Ability to read English manuals, schematics and drawings.

Ability to rebuild engines, transmissions, and pumps.

Ability to complete, organize, process, track, and file documentation associated with equipment maintenance.

Ability to maintain inventory.

Must be able to make an informed decision on when an equipment representative needs to be called to repair any piece of equipment that cannot be repaired on site or within individuals scope.

Job Duties

Keeps a clean organized shop, tools, service truck, parts inventory, purchase records, equipment manual library, and filing system.

Performs routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches.  This includes but is not limited to changing filters, oil, lubricants, gases, and fluids.

Performs maintenance and repair on heavy equipment with an emphasis on increasing equipment availability. Diagnose, service and repair various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment.  This includes but is not limited to fuel injection systems, exhaust /emission control systems, cooling systems, lubricating systems, ignition systems, air conditioning systems, electrical systems, electronic control systems, turbo charger systems, air intake systems, braking systems, transmissions (including conventional, automatic, and hydrostatic), pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems (including hydraulic steering, braking, auxiliary and transmission systems).

Diagnose, service and repair various ground engaging systems.  This includes but is not limited to tires, hubs, tandem drive axles, tracks, track adjusters, rails, track pads, idlers, undercarriages, suspensions (independent, conventional steel, air ride, heavy duty multi axle, and track suspensions), final drives, clutches, bearings, drive sprockets, cutting edges, and teeth.

Fabricates parts and components from raw stock using metal cutting tools, and welding equipment.

Tunes gas and diesel engines, services valves, fuel filters, and turbo chargers.  Pressure checks fuel filters, adjusts injectors, fuel racks, and governors.

Steering and suspension: Repairs or replaces tie rods, ball joints, gear boxes, shock absorbers, springs, steering linkages, kingpins, power steering, hoses, pumps, walking beam suspensions, and air suspensions.

Knowledgeable in equipment operation.

  • Grade Checker must have a minimum of five years’ experience laying out, setting slope stakes, and controlling construction grade for roads, sitework, utilities, and high production earthmoving cut/fill.  Must be able to read and understand owner Specifications and Plans.
  • Must have working knowledge of conventional construction survey equipment including lasers and Trimble GPS Rovers, base stations, and repeaters.  DelHur will train on GPS equipment.

Heavy Haul Truck Driver – Hermiston, OR

Seeking a dependable CDL truck driver to haul heavy construction equipment and construction materials.  Must be organized, detailed oriented, and comfortable working independently. A clean driving record and commercial driving experience is a must. In addition to heavy haul driving, driver may be required to operate off road trucks during slow periods on projects within 100-mile radius of Hermiston, OR.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle

Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) up to (200,000) lbs., including oversize and heavy haul loads

Pick-up and safely transport equipment, supplies, and materials to the intended destination

Ensure loads are properly secured to prevent damage/injury

Assist in mapping driving routes

Ensure proper permits are in hand for delivery route

Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery

Communicate with dispatch as needed

Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to, during, and following each trip

Check weather conditions and road reports before departure

Ensure vehicle is kept clean

Maintain vehicle as needed (refuel, tire pressure, etc.)

Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues

Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times

Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs

Track and report working hours

Adhere to company, state, and federal rules and regulations

Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions

Comply with ICC and DOT regulations

Make safety a priority at all times

Requirements and Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required

Doubles Endorsement

Haz Mat Endorsement

5+ years of proven experience in heavy haul driving preferred

Clean driving record with no moving violations

Must pass a drug test

Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles

Alert, focused, and detail-oriented

Physically and mentally fit

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time

Comfortable with long-haul transport

Able to operate a forklift

Proficient using GPS and other routing systems

Map reading and route planning experience
